Thanks everyone for your pattern suggestions last week! My sewing queue has doubled in size, in a good way.
I dug deep in the closet and found a cache of last summer’s makes. No pencil skirts this week. If last week was the week of the skirt, this week was all about color. I spent much of this winter sewing in black and white (1, 2, 3) which was unprecedented for me. This week’s wardrobe reveals what I would consider my true nature, color and print. Most of these outfits have only one me-made item which highlights another change in my sewing habits that occurred this winter. I noticed that I often put a ton of work into one fabulous piece, but then fail to find the right pants or sweater to pair with it. As a result, the item languishes in the closet. This winter I started sewing outfits rather than single pieces. This hasn’t changed my wearing habits yet, but it will be interesting to see how the rest of this summer goes as I start sewing for warmer weather. Another place I should probably focus is layers such as blazers and sweatshirts that can be thrown over outfits when the sun goes down.
Anyone have a favorite pattern for layering?
