Lace Pencil Skirt
The front of this skirt is nice, but let’s be honest, the back is where it’s at. Back darts and gusset kick pleat you betcha.
This skirt is made from Burdastyle 02/2011 stretch pencil skirt pattern. I made this over a year ago so I’m a little fuzzy on the details. Based on my hip and waist measurements I’m between a size 36 and 38, but I just can’t remember which I cut. If there was any extra room I would have taken it in an the side seams. Too much excitement going on in the back to mess around there.
The overlay fabric is a stretch lace that I picked up at Denver fabrics along with a stretch flesh colored solid. I cut the lining shorter than the lace for some added drama. It was a bit fiddly to line up the stretch lace pattern along the side seams, but I saved time by not hemming. The beauty of this lace was I could just cut the skirt hem along the scallop pattern and call it a finish. Love that!
